Nancy Holleran

Life is filled with great experiences. Ones that make us smile; ones that touch our hearts; and ones that leave us spellbound by nature’s beauty.

My approach to art is associative; it starts with a memorable moment captured by a photograph. Starting with my initial drawing, my paintings build into figurative precision to create the emotional aura of my chosen subject matter. My paintings are created within a period that allows me to achieve this goal.

Watercolor medium allows me to utilize it’s semi-transparency to create depth as well as improvise using gouache, ink , resist and watercolor pencils.

As an artist, I like to initiate, as well as be receptive of a process where composition, balance, even theme of the work can be translated from the first brush stroke on paper into a expressive symbol of the experience of modern life.

If they make you smile, laugh or provide sense of peace, I have succeeded. Ten percent (10%) of each of my paintings’ sale proceeds will go to a non-profit organization of the customer’s choice to pass on some joy to others.
